Welcome to the Florida Keys!

Home of the only living coral reef in the continental United States, the Florida Keys are a magnificent gift of nature.  The Keys were actually formed when, over millions of years, the ocean receded and coral reef emerged forming islands that look like stepping stones into the sunset. The waters surrounding the Keys are now home to the only living coral reef in the continental U.S.  This uniquely tropical paradise provides a place of unbelievable natural beauty  - a place to kick off your shoes and leave your cares behind!

As you enter the Keys in Homestead and Florida City you'll immediately notice the "changes in latitude, changes in attitude" made famous by the singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffet.  Relaxing is part of the Key Largo lifestyle!  We invite you to kick back and enjoy a quiet afternoon -sit in your hammock, sip a cool drink, and do nothing at all.  If you get too warm, remember you are only a few steps away from a cool splash in the ocean or bay!

As you travel down US 1 enjoy the view in Islamorada, also known as the "Purple Isles" and the "Sportfishing Capital of the World".  Islamorada offers wonderful dining at its not to be missed restaurants, shopping in it's many artist villages and quaint shops and unbelievably beautiful snorkeling and diving on the reefs that lie just offshore.

Lower Matecumbe is a quiet stretch of land that offers a number of beautiful beaches where you can feel the sand between your toes.  As you travel on Lower Matecumbe you will see the "old bridges" that were part of the Overseas Railroad, destroyed in the Hurricane of 1935.  These bridges were then repaired to become the first Overseas Highway, providing a traveler the opportunity to drive all the way from Key Largo to Key West.

Whether you're planning your Florida Keys vacation for the great diving and snorkeling, out of this world fishing, or just to relax and get away from it all, look no further than Florida Keys Rentals, Inc.  Come, stay  and let us share our unique lifestyle with you over and over again.

  Key Largo

Largo means "long" in Spanish and Key Largo is both the longest Key and the beginning point of a trip to the Florida Keys.  It is the first, largest, and most visited tropical island of the Florida Keys.  The ocean breezes and stunning views invite you to grab a drink and relax in a hammock; while the crystal clear blue-green water invites you to splash into or under the water and explore the "Dive Capital of the World".  Diving, snorkeling, and fishing opportunities abound in Key Largo.  John Pennekamp State Park and the National Marine Sanctuary has two great beaches with nature trails and opportunities for you to ride in a glass bottom boat or explore the shoreline by canoe or kayak.  Offshore you can visit the world famous Christ of the Abyss Statue and experience world class diving and snorkeling at places like Molasses Reef, the Benwood Wreck and French Reef and Carysfort Reef.  You can also explore  the 510' USS Spiegel Grove, the largest divable wreck in US waters.

Key Largo also offers great fishing and there are many exciting things to do onshore.  Visit Dolphins Plus or Dolphin Cove where you can swim with the dolphins.  The Key Largo Hammocks State Botanical site offers unusual plants and wildlife and is one of the best places on the island for a sheltered bike ride . Birdwatchers can view the quiet beauty while watching for herons, egrets and roseate spoonbills along the shoreline. You can also take a boat to the Everglades and see first hand this amazing ecosystem.  A visit to Tavernier takes you back in time with churches, pioneer homes, a railroad station and family owned stores from the turn of the century.  You can also experience movie magic by visiting Humphrey Bogart's "African Queen".  With only a few exceptions, everything in the Keys tends to be casual, in dress, service and food.  The splendors of this tropical paradise provide a life style unchallenged anywhere in the world. We welcome you to this island of enchantment...  ...Legendary Key Largo!

  Islamorada

It takes confidence to call yourself the "Sportfishing Capital of the World".  But with two oceans full of the world's most sought-after gamefish - tuna, marlin, and dolphin in the Atlantic - and bonefish, tarpon and permit in the backcountry bay waters, Islamorada can back it up.  Islamorada is Spanish for "Purple Isles" - chosen by the Spanish sailors who saw the purple hue of the coastline from either the lavender shells of sea snails or from the colorful purple bougainvillea that is so abundant everywhere.  The color of the ocean here is an amazing array of blues and greens that will take your breath away.  The best attraction, however, is the sunsets - with virtually no pollution or high rises to obstruct the view, the sunsets on Islamorada are a spectacular sight not to be missed.

Islamorada offers fun for the whole family with visits to Theater of the Sea for a dolphin show or to Holiday Isle Resort to watch the fisherman come in with their catches at the end of the day.  Visit a local artisan village at the Rain Barrel or shop for treasures at Treasure Village on Plantation Key.  Long Key State Park harkens back to the Keys of old - grab your fishing pole and take a hike along the boardwalk or into the natural hammock.  Experience historical Indian Key by kayak or feed the tarpon at Robbie's in Lower Matecumbe - you'll soon realize why people get the "Keys Disease" and never want to leave!
